I was driving the other day and stationary at the lights, I found myself looking out the window right at an ad that caught my eye.

So I whipped out my iPhone and snapped a shot.

I popped it up on Instagram and the next day, received an email from a friend who gave me a little bit of background to the tagline:

“People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.”

Recognize it?

Images with movement

In Advertizing, Branding, Creative, Design, Inspire, Marketing, Photography on July 18, 2013 at 12:58 am

I love the artistic and creative direction of the DKNY and DKNY Men Fall 2013 ad campaigns! Simply because it’s got my top three favorite elements: fashion, New York City, and images with movement.

What do I mean by ‘images with movement’?

Setting the scene

I love the opening first scene of the movie The Adjustment Bureau. A side silhouette of Matt Damon standing in perfect synergy to the arched backdrop. The colors. The tone. The vibe. The look. The feel. Even his attire doesn’t disturb the solemness in the air.

He is alone. In semi-darkness. In deep contemplation. Surrounded by beautiful historical architecture. Already you’re wondering why. What is he doing? What happens next?

It sets the scene for the story. You automatically feel a sense that this is his story. A journey into contemplating his purpose. In semi-darkness. In varied levels of confusion.

The future

In Copywriting, Creative, Inspire on July 4, 2013 at 6:45 am

I took this shot when I was boarding a plane en route to New York.

It’s from an ad campaign that HSBC ran.

The message is clear, and certainly not new, but spoke to me at that moment in time. You see, I was on the precipice of a shift in my own life.

It wasn’t so much the words, but the idea behind the words and the depth of it that made me literally stop in my tracks, whip out my trusted iPhone, and snap the shot.

I wanted to share it because it’s so simple, yet so true. And sometimes, we get so bogged down by the intricacies of daily life that we forget.

So let’s remind ourselves.

The future is full of opportunity.
