The Tinman

On another blog site, I wrote a blog about The Tinman. For those of you who follow or read my varied blog sites, you’d recognize the piece I speak of.

And as it turns out, while that blog was in creation, I stumbled on this little gem while out in search of coffee one day.

This one joins my list of favorites. Another delicious little number hiding in a forgotten alleyway.

The King of Hearts

Some of the best urban street art works are in the most obscure places. I stumbled upon this one while out one day taking a short cut through the city. I would never have seen it had I not, on impulse, turned a corner. And ended up randomly smack in the middle of a forgotten laneway filled with such graffiti.

But this one made me gasp.

The attention to detail in this one is truly amazing. I wonder how long it took the artist. Or if he or she had any idea how many lives they’ve touched.

Simply from a creative expression of self.

I call this gem ‘The King of Hearts’. It’s easily one of my favorite works, along with ‘The Urban Dragon’ some blogs back. Enjoy!

Mind the gap

I love the simplicity of this billboard ad. It’s an uncomplicated yet effective way of telling you the store locations and where you are in the world while you’re actually in the store.

Another example of how advertizing, marketing, and branding don’t necessarily need flashy overtones to get your attention. This one executes simple use of font and subtle color to achieve the effect.

Incidentally, no prizes for guessing the brand!
